About

Metro Imaging presents a workshop on the skills involved in making great prints. Hard drive filling up with fantastic pictures? Does the next step into print leave you daunted? This informal yet informative short course will get you up to speed with all the fundamentals of how to make great prints: colour management, cropping, sizing and saving with experts from Metro guiding you and answering your questions, no matter how small. Metro have been making prints for the UK's number one photographers for 30 years. With their new online service, Metroprint, anyone can utilise the best printers and colour profiles to make their own perfect prints. Our expert tutors will pass on knowledge gained over several years of experience. Tutors include: Tim Bennett — Tim is a photographic printer and retoucher who specialises in fine art photography, working for a large number of photographers and artists including: Nick Knight, David Bailey, Damian Hirst, Tracey Emin, Sam Taylor-Wood, Corrine Day, Mario Testino, Richard Billingham, Philip Jones Griffiths, and Joel Sternfeld amongst many others. Tim undertook an apprenticeship in the 1990's as a photographic colour hand printer and cut his teeth over the following years working for some of London's most reputable professional labs: LTI, BDI, and Goldenshot. As the digital revolution approached he moved into digital printing, learning Photoshop on the job and under his own volition, then went on to study Digital Media Production as a mature student at The London College of Printing and qualified as a post-16 photography teacher from The Institute of Education, going on to work for four years as Head of Media Studies at a North West London 6th form. Tim returned to the photographic printing industry in 2011, working at theprintspace in Hoxton before moving to Metro Imaging in summer 2011. Steve Macleod — As Creative Director for Metro Imaging in London, Steve has been at the forefront of photographic imaging for nearly 20 years, collaborating with a vast network of clients. He was awarded with a fellowship of the RSA in 2004 for his commitment and services to his industry.
