California State University, Northridge Art Galleries is pleased to present HOUSE of FEAR by The Family Room Collective (TFRC). TFRC is a Los Angeles based queer performing artist group formed in 2018. The group utilizes interpersonal investigations and group dynamics to expand the idea of participatory performance art into the realm of everyday life. HOUSE of FEAR is a highly collaborative exhibition bringing together TFRC with student artists and actors, who will work together to visualize their fears into built environments and live performances.
 

Participants will be interviewed and characters created based on each individual narrative. The characters will develop in conjunction with the spatial and material elements of the exhibition, allowing for the show’s continual evolution until the culminating performances on November 23rd and 24th. TFRC practices include language games, spatial story design, model/doll making, and improv theatre to ground the indeterminate nature of responding to the output of its participants. During regular Gallery hours when the performers are absent from the space, the Gallery itself will be fractured by the use of live-looping camcorders, video projection, and sound.

Reception: Saturday, November 23rd from 5-7pm
Live Performances: Nov 23rd and 24th from 4-5pm
