Jealous are delighted to announce that we have once again teamed up with internationally renowned street artist Ben Eine, this time for two exclusive new print releases entitled ‘Home Sweet Homeless’.

About

The proceeds of the sales made from Eine's newest prints, 'Home Sweet Homeless', will go to Shelter, one of the UK’s top charities for homelessness and poor housing.

With an ongoing relationship between Eine and Jealous, the new edition will be printed in the Jealous Print Studio and released exclusively through the Jealous galleries. Featuring his most iconic ‘Vandals’ font, the two editions will be fully revealed on the evening of the launch.

The printing of this edition has been filmed by Sky Arts, to be aired on a new series ‘The Art Show’, who are making a four minute film about Jealous and the ‘behind-the-scenes’ work we do, culminating in the filming of the Private View and launch on Thursday 2nd March.

To coincide with the release of the edition, Jealous East will play host to a two week Eine solo show, featuring previously sold out editions and original works.

Join us to celebrate the launch of these two new editions for a very worthwhile cause, taking place on 2nd March 6.30 - 8.30pm, all welcome. The exhibition and launch is  generously sponsored by Lemon-aid, Fullers, Kettle Chips, Beefeater Gin and John Purcell Paper.

Born in London, Ben Eine is one of the most successful street artists in the world and is regarded as a pioneer in the exploration of graffiti letterforms. Originally a writer, Eine started his career over 25 years ago, leaving his first tag all over London before developing his distinct typographic style.

Eine's bright and colourful letters were created to stand out from the usual tags and dubs seen on the streets and can still be found in areas of East London. These letters appear on shop shutters and often spell whole words across walls. Eine first came to prominence in the “commercial” graffiti scene through his symbiotic partnership with London graffiti artist Banksy.

In 2010 the UK Prime Minister David Cameron gifted his artwork to President Obama, while a particular area of the East End was named ‘Alphabet City’ after his colourful array of shopfront ‘shutter art’.

Currently Ben Eine’s work is held in the permanent collections of the V&A, London, The Museum of Modern Art, Los Angeles and galleries worldwide, while his street art works can be seen all over the world, most recently he completed a huge mural on the British Embassy in Abu Dhabi.

Shelter was founded in 1966 and helps millions of people every year struggling with bad housing or homelessness through their advice, support and legal services. They strive every day to give people the help they need, and campaign relentlessly to achieve a vision of a safe, secure, affordable home for everyone.

Jealous is a Contemporary Screenprint Studio, Gallery and Publisher based in Crouch End and East London’s creative hub of Shoreditch.

Established in 2008, we are known for our collaborative approach to producing high quality limited edition prints with many illustrators, graduates and established artists. Our editions can be seen at many of the art fairs we attend including The London Original Print Fair (LOPF) at The Royal Academy, The London Art Fair, Moniker and the AAF internationally.

Our diverse educational programme includes working with primary schools on site specific art projects whilst the Jealous Prize invites MA’s from London’s art colleges to make an all expenses paid edition with Jealous. These editions are then shown at the many art fairs we attend and form part of the V&A’s permanent print collection.

Our client work includes White Cube, Saatchi Galllery, The Fine Art Society, Pentagram, Why Not Associates, Graphic Thought Facility, The British Film Institute and the V&A, to name but a few.

Our recent projects include publishing Charming Baker’s new editions with Paul Stolper Gallery to coincide with his S2 Sotheby’s Mayfair solo show. We have worked with street artist Ben Eine and The Big Issue, designing three collectable covers to celebrate their 200 millionth copy and created editions for their commemorative issue whilst hosting a televised event in our Shoreditch space with founder Lord John Bird. We have worked with Gemma Peppé, the force behind Art on A Postcard, a project raising desperately needed funds for The Hepatitis C Trust, publishing charity editions and as a result, presented 'The Best Of Art on a Postcard 2016' show in our Shoreditich space with David Shrigley, Gavin Turk, Ray Richardson, The Connor Brothers, amongst many others.
