About
A Berlin-based Lithuanian artist Inga Likšaitė will premiere her new works in a solo show titled “Home. 12 Hours in the Air and 6000 Meters of Repeated Stitch” at the Pamėnkalnio Gallery (1 Pamėnkalnio St, Vilnius) on 9 February at 7 pm. The show will run until 6 March, 2018.
The Grand Prix winner of the prestigious Pfaff Art Embroidery Challenge’07 Inga Likšaitė will present new works that propose the illusion of moving images created by the series of stitches on painted canvases.
If in her previous work the artist used a sewing machine, now she prefers hand-stitching to achieve a more personal and meditative approach, as well as a different means of expression.
In her new show I. Likšaitė also explores the subject of home. “Living between Germany and Lithuania made me think what home meant to me. What else, besides a roof over the head, quality of living, cultural notions, lies in the concept of home”, artist says.
The show is in part supported by the Culture Ministry of Lithuania, Lithuanian Council for Culture, and Lithuanian Artists’ Association.
