Hito Steyerl is a noted theorist and artist, addressing feminist and post-colonial critiques through writing and the making of videos. At this rare In Person screening, she introduces two recent works. November (2004) takes as its start point the death of the filmmaker's friend, Andrea Wolf in 1998, shot as a Kurdish terrorist in Eastern Anatolia. What unravels is a fluidly constructed and profound essay on the nature of terrorism, its relationship to popular culture through cinema and the fine line between fact and fiction.
