About
The exhibition, Growing Gills is conceived by artists Joana Escoval (Portugal) and Gaia Fugazza (Italy), writer Agnieszka Gratza (UK/ Poland), curator Daria Khan (Russia) and photographer Giovanna Silva (Italy).
Growing Gills attempts to reconsider our understanding of human descent and to imagine an aquatic future. It explores, among other things the use of psychedelic plants in Mediterranean witchcraft, alchemical experiments with the transmutation of metals, fictional accounts of journeys to the underworld, and volcanic swimming as a species of meditation and a way of courting danger.
