Animals have been represented in craft for as long as humans have been making, shaping and creating decorative objects.
About
This exhibition encourages children to explore our age-old fascination with all creatures great and small, with works selected from the Crafts Council Collection to engage young minds with contemporary craft.
Great & Small will show how makers create both functional and beautiful objects, and depict animals in a realistic or abstract way. Children can discover the symbolism of certain animals, how we represent domestic and wild animals, and the techniques that are used in contemporary craft-making.
As well as looking at the objects on display, children can take part in hands-on and interactive activities, including workshops in the Gallery’s Studio space. This accessible, exciting exhibition will engage children in the animal kingdom and inspire them to express their own creativity.
Great & Small is a Crafts Council Touring Exhibition in partnership with Broadway Gallery.
