About
„The complex tapestry of life and death is a beautiful thing. I simply dance in that awareness rather than run from it. “
Growing up in the 1980's Sydney skateboard scene, our artist in residency George Hambov aka Apeseven predominantly approaches work with a street art perspective with an underpinning of re-contextualization that transforms his physical interactions into a new visual alchemy.
GARGANTUA
Apeseven's current works focus on complex bio-feedback driven loops involving a tapestry of pattern, animals and skeletal structures. Freehand aerosol and traditional brush techniques are evident with works primarily incorporating mixed media: acrylics, aerosol, inks, found paper and objects. Berlin inspired him to dig deeper in the rawness of human nature and the demons provided by old myths.
GARGANTUA is a mixed media gateway to an all-encompassing view of life: a fauna based metaphor for the world we live in and the effects of the anthropocene.
