About
Join us for gallery tour of heritage exhibition Raw Materials: Textiles, followed by a boat cruise up the River Lea to Springfield Park, Clapton. (Limited 10 spaces available)
A chance to join a guided tour of the Raw Materials exhibition at the Nunnery Gallery, exploring the industrial heritage of the River Lea through textiles. Discover little-known stories behind a fascinating collection of objects, from historic fabrics and colour dyes to the tools of the tailoring trade, together with newly commissioned work from resident artists Sarah Desmarais and Freya Gabie. After the tour, we will travel the waterway that inspired Raw Materials, the River Lea, seeing the traces of our industrial past along the way. You will be joined by members of the project steering group who will help you uncover stories of industry along the River Lea as you cruise along.
Please feel free to bring drinks / packed lunch for the journey.
Unfortunately there is no wheelchair access to the boat. Prams can be carried on board.
Limited 10 spaces available (*including children and babies due to the boat insurance policy).
