Bringing the garden into the gallery this summer is a group show of unexpected 20th and 21st century work on a flower and garden theme. Featuring oil painting, watercolour, photography, sculpture, textile designs and embroidery, illustration, drawing and printmaking.

About

Hung on vivid pink and blue walls, inspired by last year’s RA Summer Show, this group show includes work gathered in response to an open call enriched by a handful of vintage pieces such as a copperplate diagram of leaf shapes from an old text book and a photogram of a primrose.

The eclectic selection features Sharon Drew‘s painting Bloom 3, Eleni Leoussi‘s Photo Collage 8 and Lynne Cartlidge‘s Sea Thrift. Hand portraits shot in a Karl Blossfeldt style by photographer Paul Debois add to the gardening theme as the hands belong to well-known green-fingered folks including Alan Titchmarsh, Beth Chatto and Roy Lancaster.
