A dramatic and provocative investigation into themes of growing up and finding 'self' with powerfully monochrome charcoal drawings. Dressing up, disguises and posing to take on a projected strength at a scale which allows the artist freedom and physicality. The drawings are quite raw in parts - using just charcoal and a rubber, traces of the workings are visible at the finish reinforcing the depth and intentions of the drawings. The subject, materials and process balance each other in strength and fragility and there is humour throughout, manifested in the titles of the drawings : Long John & Dolcepompom, Captain America & The Alien From Out Of Space..
