Desire, like an irresolute siren, enthralls us with eternal illusions. It burns for completeness, to momentarily lavish its object and cancel it of its otherness. Once experienced, is it lost to leave the consumer to seek it once more? The self is in perpetual contradiction playing with the search for the new and the feeling of satisfaction. The subject is ridden with paradoxes; mingling pleasure with pain, ecstasy with madness, want of possession with the need for freedom.
Ironically based on the 90's pop song Freed From Desire, Gallery 223 brings together a group of artists with work exploring concepts of Desire.
