Frank To

Frank To was born in Glasgow 1982. He graduated from the University of Huddersfield with BA (Hons) Fine Art. He went on to gain a Masters of Fine Art from Duncan of Jordanstone Art College. He works from his studio in Glasgow. The influences on his work are drawn from literary sources such as the Greek philosophers Plato and Aristotle. His process is very instinctual and organic; it begins without structure, as an abstract form, his figures then ‘unfold' out of the painting. He describes his style and technique as, ‘improvising the activity of painting' and ‘blurring the boundaries between the figurative and the abstract'. Frank To is already winning an enviable reputation for himself as a contemporary figurative painter, having already established a loyal following, including a number of high profile buyers. One such buyer is Star Trek legend, Patrick Stewart who now owns several of Frank's paintings.
