Having been a graffiti artist for over 15 years, Pixie is exploring the differences between a transient painting on a wall and a piece of artwork to keep forever.
In this debut solo show, she combines her background in graffiti with fascinating new painting methods, mirroring how being diagnosed with a lifelong health condition has forced her to be more considerate about how she does everything, taking a huge step away from her impulsive and fast way of life.
After adjusting her approach to life she is now ready to rip off the plaster from her practice, look at everything she is left with, and create the utmost value and beauty from it. She has come to welcome the longevity and behaviour of different materials, in the realisation that her body is not like a graffiti painting that stays on a wall for just a few days, but a painting “for keeps”.
As she begins to uncover the true value of dark times in our lives as well as the light, Pixie aims to combine these elements to produce an unforgettable body of work which has a direct connection to the universal requirement that all humans have to be loved and treasured.
