About

BISCHOFF/WEISS is pleased to present p. 18, the first solo exhibition by Flore Nové-Josserand. For this project, Flore Nové-Josserand has chosen to exhibit five paintings, to build a room to display these paintings in and to build another room for the display of the 'communication' elements of the show. The invitation has been created in collaboration with Sylvain Sailly and the text of the press release is an interview conducted by Annabela Tournon. Press release extract : How to paint like a superhero The Anglo-Saxons have a very immediate relationship to the materials they use. In general, they function from within the medium, through a series of manipulations. The materials they use are very precise and the artists work like technicians. Encountering this way of working made me realize that the astonishing inventions that someone like Stella could come up with don't necessarily stem from phenomenal intuition, nor from an ultra-brave artistic stance. Instead, they arise from a sort of blind practice. It's like when you become an adult, and you realize that adults aren't exactly superheroes. It helps you come to terms with your own potential to become a superhero. The answer is: inevitably yes!
