The Genome Chronicles

About

Dir. John Akomfrah UK, 2009, 33 min On the occasion of this month's Fitzrovia Lates, join us for a screening of John Akomfrah's The Genome Chronicles. In the space of a few days in 1998, filmmaker John Akomfrah lost two people very close to him: his mother and a friend, the British artist Donald Rodney. The Genome Chronicles is the filmmaker's response to these events in the form of a 'song cycle' in ten parts, which combines his own footage taken during repeated trips to the Scottish islands of Skye and Mull with Rodney's own Super 8 material. The gallery will stay open until 9pm for an opportunity to see Hauntologies, Akomfrah's first show at Carroll / Fletcher. Free but booking essential:
