The second iteration of Northern Film & Media's FILM CLUB strand for artist filmmakers launches with an event curated by Giles Bailey & CIRCA Projects, held in partnership with Berwick Film & Media Art Festival (BFMAF).
World is Sudden: Part 1 with guests Eleanor Wright, Kathryn Elkin, Rene McBrearty, Susie Green & Simon Bayliss, Terry plus video footage excerpts.
Inspired by the collateral, incompatible and sudden world described in Louis MacNeice’s 1935 poem 'Snow', this event combines performance, music, sound, moving image, internet video phenomena and archival material. Staged in a custom-made set, artworks are presented in a continuous flow resisting the tyranny of prescribed thematics, embracing “the drunkenness of things being various,” however modestly.
The Q&A for this event will take the form of a performance by Kathryn Elkin, drawing on the format of Michael Parkinson's notorious 1975 interview with Helen Mirren interview and including an audience participation dynamic.
