A brand new interactive exhibition, Feelscape, enables the viewer to create a vision of their future. A specially curated AI captures visitors' emotions and reactions, as they think about their future, and creates a personalised emotional landscape for them to keep forever.

About

Psychologists predict that we will remember very little of the pandemic. For most of us, the monotony of lockdown has given us too few points of reference from which to create substantial memories. As Catherine Loveday, professor of cognitive neuroscience at the University of Westminster put it to the BBC in November: “Trying to remember what’s happened to you when there’s little distinction between the different days is like trying to play a piano when there are no black keys to help you find your way around.”

In his first venture into visually representing how we can change the course of our future through the power of thought, Jukes’s Feelscape helps visitors’ discover new points of reference. By using Artificial Intelligence to channel positive visible emotions and giving back the power to create lasting memories in the form of artwork.

Visitors will be invited to a private, COVID safe enclosed installation where the interactive experience takes place. Carefully constructed AI uses a camera to analyse the relative positions of visitor’s facial features as they recall their future memory. These are then rated against the typical expressions of six key emotions – happiness, surprise, sadness, anger, disgust and fear. In the algorithm, each emotion has been assigned a colourway [series of colours], and the resultant artwork – an abstract landscape that floods the experience box – is a blend of these.

The Feelscape experience is open to everyone and of all ages.
