About
Something exciting is happening at Camberwell College of Arts, the exhibition Far From Home brings together the work of several artists from the Southwark Refugee Artist Network group, whose rich and colourful work will add a new vibrancy to the Foyer Space of Camberwell College of Arts. The idea of this exhibition is to show how the artists develop their art and their culture far from home, how they manage to shape their experiences with colours and forms, and how these artists transfer their geographic and cultural restrictions to consolidate themselves beyond their national borders.
Far From Home is not only about the migratory process, or the relationship of the artists with their original country, or the difficulty of their integration in the new country, but rather it is about how the present appears as a fertile land for questions and meanings.
It is hoped that this exhibition will further stimulate the growing interest in the richness and vitality of refugee art and contribute to the understanding of refugees in the UK.
