An ambitious, independent exhibition working with strippers and their stories to collectively imagine a utopian femme work space for erotic performers.

About

FANTASY is an immersive installation that conceptualises a utopian femme work space for erotic performers. Collectively we aim to address contemporary locational issues that face strippers and sex workers in the UK, using these conditions as a entry point to imagine an alternative state, whilst also acknowledging the contradictions in making real a speculative space.

The installation is constructed by artists and strippers, Mercy & Ginger, using materials and tools sourced though and used by workers in the sex industry. Their work is accompanied by a audio visual piece by BiRDS collective exploring the expression of queer desire in the strip club.

Join us on Saturday for drinks and performances by London based swers or on Sunday for free sporadic pole dancing instruction (bring shorts and a short sleeved top if you want to get serious.)

Private View and Labs

Before the public launch we are hosting a private view for strippers, swers and allies. This will include the opportunity to take part in two workshops that activate the experiences and ideas of the participants to ensure that the exhibition has a tangible legacy for the community.

During the writing lab with Emily Pickthall, an activist and writer with a specialist knowledge of the politics surrounding sex work, participants are invited to collectively create a document that has a practical use to those working in the industry. The Art lab will be organised by Ginger, and offers the opportunity to create a sculptural work to be included in the installation.
