Fake Action Truth - Ran Huang

About

Fake Action Truth Ran Huang Preview: 1st July 2010, 6 — 9pm 2nd July— 15th July (by appointment only) Free entry Prussian Projekte proudly presents Ran Huang's first solo show in Nottingham Fake Action Truth. Huang's practice hovers between media as he works in and between the lines of film, video, installation and performance. Working with various conceptual strategies he seeks to challenge the inextricable links between contemporary culture and politics. Fake Action Truth poses the viewer with various questions, utilising confusion and the ambiguity of repressed sexuality and male relationships in contrast to a current of violence between polar opposites. The blurring of the boundaries between sexuality and violence creates a sense of ethical dislocation, challenging the apparent puzzle of contemporary politics, as an attempt to reframe hostile perception of hostile relationships. Recent Exhibitions Include:. VIVID, Birmingham, UK, 2009, 7th Mercosur Biennial, Santander Cultural, Brazil, 2009, Tina B Contemporary Art Festival, Prague, Czech Republic, 2009, .MOVE, Werkleitz, Halle, Germany, 2009, Oà ¹ va la vidéo 00.00.02, Fondazione March, Padova, Italy, 2009. Ran Huang lives and works in Beijing and London having graduated from his MFA at Goldsmiths College, University London in 2007. Prussian Projekte is the first gallery established primarily for moving image and video work in Nottingham. Huang's show is the third of a curated programme of video and film works by both emerging and established artists for 2010. Supported by the National Lottery through Arts Council England
