However, when fabrication is considered in relation to the medium of photography, both would appear to be at odds. A fabricated photograph eludes the conventions of presenting a documentary truth to the viewer. This exhibition presents work that in diverse ways manipulates, plays with, or constructs the photographic image. The images depict elements that have been rearranged, overlaid, appropriated, or digitally distorted and rendered. Narratives are alluded to or refer to false truths and artifice, whilst other works investigate and disrupt the photographic process. Through exploring ways we consume and can remake images, all the works here examine relationships between the real, the imaginary, and the photograph itself.
