The Eye S.and.Well-Seen group was formed in 2008. Its composition has fluctuated over the years. As its name indicates, the group is not about fixed themes but more about individual responses to chosen subject matter.

About

The current artists are: Margaret Anderton Wendy Brown Olwen Holland Mathe Shepheard Olwen, Wendy and Margaret produce photographic images; Wendy (in addition) and Mathe are painters. Margaret was born in West Bromwich and intends explore the relatively new phenomenon of transient memorials by documenting the placing of flowers at the site of death and not the site of burial. Wendy spent several years working with Deaf children in the Sensory Support Team in Walsall and working collaboratively with her equivalent numbers in Sandwell and across the West Midlands. She intends to look at the Contrasts within the area both architectural and cultural. Olwen is currently studying for an MA in Photography at the London College of Communication. She has exhibited in the West Midlands for many years. She intends to create new work for the exhibition reflecting on the gallery and the local area. Mathe has been a potter and has her degree in ceramic and glass from Birmingham and now concentrates on painting. She has exhibited in the West Midlands for many years. Her themes are land and water, both seen as wild places; riverside, sea on rocks, lakes ringed by mountains. Her techniques are mostly watercolour with some mixed media. Her work here disconnects from this location, evoking specific yet universal memories. Gallery opening times: Wednesday to Saturday: 10am - 5pm Sunday: 11am - 4pm
