The series of work on display to the public is intended by the artist to help others see the natural beauty of unveiled body hair, blemishes and marks in all its beautiful and interesting glory.
About
Embarrassed by my own body protected under my towel, I realise the other women are not judging me because they too, like me, are busy hiding their own bodies.
In this solo exhibition the artist Ann Elson BA hons illustration, draws on experiences relating to the exposed natural female form and the relationships and attitudes towards this.
The body of work created using biro & pencil onto parchment paper resembles transparent & flawed natural skin with its watermarked blemishes, while the biro permanently tattoos the paper thin skin & veined parchment paper.
The artist is challenged to be personally exposed by putting this idea of work on display for others to judge, but proud to be exhibited to the public within the walls of the beautiful Victorian seaside Theatre. Exposed is about feeling comfortable in your own skin.
As part of the recent huge renovation project the theatre has created the Pizey Gallery where Exposed will be exhibiting from 5th October to the 8th November 2021
of which entry is free.
