AboutOver the three decades since he decided to concentrate his studio work on painting âwhat is within hand's reach' Eric Rimmington has put his personal stamp on the art of still life. His expert rendering of an eclectic and seemingly random selection of objects (albeit most of them have come into his life with a history) is matched by an unerring knack for design. Apparently off-kilter or unexpected placings make constant variations on the simple themes of a shelf against the wall or a cloth-covered table top.
Described by the critic William Packer as ' one of the country's most distinguished exponents in the field of still life', Rimmington richly deserves his place amongst Britain's most celebrated contemporary still life artists. His pre-eminence was stressed in 2013 when he was selected as a guest artist to exhibit at the 2013 Threadneedle Prize, alongside the very best emerging young talent. Rimmington has exhibited regularly at the Bohun Gallery since 2001, following 18 years of exhibiting in London. His work can be seen in public collections across the country and in 2006 he was awarded the ING Discerning Eye Purchase Prize. This selling exhibition of his latest still life paintings offers collectors the opportunity to acquire work by one the most well respected artists working in the still life oeuvre.
