Date: Saturday 10 October 2009 Times 11am - 1pm Venue: The Light, The Headrow, Leeds LS1 8TL www.esaweb.org.uk FREE ADMISSION - ALL WELCOME Juliana Bellante's work combines painting, drawing, sculpture, light and sound and uses her practice to prompt questions and create dialogue and critical discussion. Juliana has been commissioned by ESA and Leeds City Council ('artforms' Music + Arts Initiative of Education Leeds and International Relations) to run the education programme with Allerton Grange and Benton Park high schools in response to the project ENTER THE AMAZING VIRGINIA SHOPEL (ESA's new commission by Dortmund artists Gudrun Kattke and Silvia Liebig.) Over 30 young people will spend two days with Juliana responding to the work by Kattke and Liebig exploring issues of re-unification and working across borders. The work created in the workshops will be exhibited, alongside German musicians in The Light shopping centre.
