Emmie Van Biervliet

About

Emmie Van Biervliet, is an up and coming artistic talent based in Oxford. The majority of her inspiration comes from periods of nomadic existence, mystical stories and bizarre sights encountered. Of particular interest are scenes of the eclectic crumbling beauty of Cuban buildings, the stark emptiness of the Mongolian steppe, the electric night landscapes of China, the sensory kaleidoscope of India and the timeless historic features of Istanbul. Emmie graduated trained in fine art at Nottingham Trent University, and since then has spent time travelling and painting. She is the recipient of the Diana Brookes Award 2010, and was also artist-in-residence at Fusion Arts Centre in Oxford. She has exhibited widely in Oxford and in London, and more recently her work was selected from hundreds of entries to represent a major charity, Art for Youth London. Her exhibition at Sarah Wiseman will open on 7th September.
