This debut solo exhibition by van der Beugel explores the personal and cultural expectations of contemporary motherhood.
Van der Beugel uses traditional graphic techniques in her work, such as silverpoint on gesso panels, black ink and drypoint prints, that capture moments of deep intimacy as well as isolation with delicacy and sensitivity. Her work challenges preconceived notions of motherhood and highlights the dichotomy between accepted social norms and the actuality of the lived experience.
