About
The exhibition brings together the works of Elisàr von Kupffer (1872–1942), an artist with Baltic German roots, and of the Estonian artist Jaanus Samma (b. 1982). Elisàr von Kupffer is best known as an artist, writer and the creator of a new religion known as Clarism. In Switzerland Kupffer is memorialised by his unique home: Villa Elisarion. This is the first time his art has been on display in Estonia, offering rare insights into the social cataclysms and religious utopias of the early 20th century, the artist’s childhood in Estonia and his homoerotic world.
