Edmund de Waal's art and literature speak to his enduring fascination with the nature of objects and the narratives of their collection and display.

About

A potter since childhood, de Waal is best known for his large-scale installations of porcelain vessels, which have been exhibited in many museums around the world. His work comes out of a dialogue between minimalism, architecture and sound, and is informed by his passion for literature.

Also an acclaimed writer, de Waal’s memoir The Hare with Amber Eyes, tells the extraordinary story of his family through a history of touch. Published in 2010, it has won numerous literary prizes and much critical attention. His latest book, The White Road (2015)takes the reader on a journey into his obsession with porcelain and white itself.
