The New Ashgate Gallery celebrates holidays by the coast and memories of carefree days away from our ever-connected world.
About
Artists have been painting seascapes for hundreds of years in order to capture the beauty of the natural world. Seascapes speak a common language that we can all relate to; the endless horizon of the sea, sunset walks and the rhythmic sound of the waves.
Long summer days, the quality of light and a bracing sea breeze inspires all of us with the feelings of possibility and perhaps it is this which we long for, once we return to normal life.
When you can’t visit the calmness and tranquillity of the sea in person, come to the haven of The New Ashgate Gallery. We are delighted to bring together 9 artists and makers whose work encapsulates the positive feelings of enjoyment, calmness and refreshment. This carefully selected exhibition of work aims to evoke feelings of nostalgia and relaxation.
These artists create work in a variety of disciplines, from ceramics to oil on canvas - all influenced by colour and the need to capture and interpret that holiday atmosphere.
An exhibition of work by Theo Brooks, Sigrun Hill, Jan Lewin-Cadogan, Alison Orchard, Alison Proctor, Isla Rose, Annabelle Shelton and Sonya Vine.
