Photography developers can be created using plant based chemistry to make your own eco-friendly and money saving photographic chemicals.

About

During this workshop you will learn how to use plant-based chemicals (either coffee or mint tea) to make your own eco-friendly photography developer to develop a roll of black and white film.

After an introduction to the technique, its history, and a demonstration of the process you will create your own photography developer and develop a roll of 35mm black and white film, this will then be fixed with conventional photographic fix. There will also be a demonstration of how to create salt fix, an eco-friendly alternative to photographic fix, due to the time it takes to work (24 hours) we won’t be able to use it during the session but we will go through how to create it at home.

At the end of the three hour session you will leave with a developed film. You’ll also receive a handout recapping the process and detailing a list of online resources.

This workshop is an intermediate workshop which is aimed at participants with some photography knowledge, age 16+ (under 18s should attend with an adult). Max group size: 5.
