This exhibition will feature designer makers whose works have been inspired by Japan, its imagery, craft techniques and culture.
Curated by Bluecoat Display Centre Gallery Officer Frances Gill.
The exhibition will examine how a sense of place can influence us as individuals and how this is reflected in artworks we create. The exhibition will feature ceramics, textiles, silver, jewellery and printmaking.
In Japanese influenced craft, we see subtle forms, exquisite craftsmanship, ethereal imagery, delicate and elegant statements which can effect and move us deeply. Artists featured in this show have been inspired by a range of media including architecture, language, travel and art.
Exhibitors will include:Kirsty Adams, Emiko Aida, Vicky Higginson, James Hake, Yuka Kikumoto, Mottainai Textiles, Alistair McCallum, Mari-Ruth Oda, Mariko Sumioka and Mizuki Takahashi.
