About

The East London Art Walks is a curated experience led by Mine Kaplangı, the co-founder of Collective Çukurcuma and artist Tuba Yalcinkaya. The focus of the walk is to enhance our understanding of experiencing art collectively by exploring various perspectives and methods of interacting with art. The walks will take place only in East London art spaces, and each tour will feature a different route through parks, local cafes and bookstores, and will be moderated by guest artists, curators and writers. The programme will change each month based on the participating venues and their events. During the walk, participants will have the opportunity to engage in conversations, enjoy snacks, and explore the neighbourhood while discovering the works of artists and art venues in the area.

Details of the walk:

3:00 pm - Starting point: Maureen Paley - We will gather in front of Maureen Paley at Three Colts Lane to commence our walk with a guided tour of their current exhibition titled "Watching the Map" by renowned artist Avis Newman. Following the tour, we will proceed through Bethnal Green and Museum Gardens, which should take approximately 20 minutes, to reach our next destination. We can make a brief stop along the way for coffee and snacks.

3:50 pm - Second venue: Auto Italia- At Auto Italia South East, we will have the opportunity to experience a guided tour of the captivating survey exhibition called "Barbarella's Kiss" by Bolivian artist, archivist, and activist David Aruquipa Pérez.

4:30pm - Third Venue: Cell Project Space- We’ve been kindly invited to Cell Project Space for a screening of Felix Melia’s ambitious 35-minutes film. Additionally, we will have the chance to view Melia's selected cyanotype patchworks titled "Stages."

5:30 pm - Final Venue: Sherbet Green - “Jupiter Walk'' is an exhilarating group show by a young group of artists responding to the planetary excursion through works of painting and sculpture.
