About
Learn intaglio printmaking inspired by your favourite children’s books and illustrations, to celebrate World Books Day.
We begin with an introduction to the drypoint printmaking process and then move on to create a plate, which we will print using our etching press. This session is inspired by children’s books and illustrations, but please feel free to ignore the theme and print a design of your own choosing if you would prefer. There will be time to experiment with mark making and techniques such as chine-collee.
You will leave with … multiple prints of your own design on paper and the skills required to continue drypoint printmaking in the future.
Who is this workshop for?
This workshop is aimed at beginners to drypoint and those with a little printmaking experience looking to refresh their knowledge. Drypoint is ideal for artists looking to expand their practice and bears resemblance to pen and pencil drawings.
Materials and Equipment
All printmaking tools, equipment and materials will be provided. Please bring along your sketchbook, basic drawing materials and any special reference material that you would like to work from, especially books, postcards or examples of illustrations.
Important details
Group size is limited to 6 people to give you plenty of space to work in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The workshop will begin at 09:30 so please arrive five minutes beforehand for a cup of tea or coffee. The workshop will finish between 11:30 and 12:00, depending on the speed at which you work and the complexity of your designs.
