Die raumgreifende Videoinstallation „Drehmomente“ nimmt das Spannungsfeld Mensch - Natur - Technik in Augenschein und lädt dazu ein, sich von den Metamorphosen der Bilder, Formen und Farbkompositionen inspirieren zu lassen. Sie entführt in Sehwelten, die durch ihre Vielschichtigkeit und ständige Verwandlung zum Verweilen und zur Kontemplation einladen.
Durch Perspektivwechsel, intensive Farbgebung und wohl durchdachtes Collagieren inszeniert die Videokünstlerin Parallelwelten - mit Windrädern, Fischschwärmen, Autoschlangen und Läufern. Merit Fakler setzt dabei ihre Motive ungewöhnlich in Szene und komponiert mehrdimensionale Videogemälde in einem bewusst entschleunigten Rhythmus.
Windräder, zeitlos und stoisch, schneiden ihre Kreise in den grünen, roten, gelben Himmel und winken in anthropozentrischer Manier ins Universum. Giganteske Konstruktionen des 21. Jahrhunderts - Sinnbilder für Bewegung, Wiederholung, Zeit und Unendlichkeit.
Wieder gelingt der Videokünstlerin, spielerisch und leicht, eine „Sehfahrt“ mit ungewöhnlicher Ästhetik und philosophischem Tiefgang. (Simone Luttenberger)
Über die Künstlerin:
Merit Fakler studierte Bühnenbild an der Universität der Künste Berlin und war Meisterschülerin von Prof. Achim Freyer. Zudem absolvierte sie ein postgraduales Studium für Videofilm ebenfalls an der UdK Berlin. Sie arbeitet als Videokünstlerin, Bühnenbildnerin und Dozentin in Berlin und im Ausland. Neben künstlerischen Arbeiten im Bereich Theater und Videokunst, mit denen sie an Ausstellungen und Performances beteiligt ist, erstellt sie Dokumentations- und Promotion-Filme (Konzept, Kamera und Schnitt) und begleitet Research- und Education-Projekte.
Sie ist aufgewachsen in Freiburg und lebt seit 1980 in Berlin. Von 2003 bis 2010 lebte sie zeitweilig als Permanent Resident in Perth, Australien.

The voluminous video installation by Merit Fakler explores the relation between - man – nature – technology and their connection to each other. This installation carries one away into visual worlds, captivating through their color composition and constant metamorphosis into visual journeys with extraordinary aesthetics and philosophical profoundness. Their constant transformation and complexity invites to bide awhile and contemplate.
Through changes of perspective, intense colouration and sophisticated collage effects the video artist stages parallel worlds – composed of wind turbines, schools of fish, lines of cars and runners. Merit Fakler stages her motives in an unusual way and composes multi-dimensional video paintings in a deliberately decelerated rhythm.
Wind turbines, timeless and stoic, cut their circles into the green, red, yellow sky and wave in an anthropocentric manner into the universe. Gigantic constructions of the 21st century – allegories of movement, repetition, time and infinity.
Again the video artist succeeds in creating a visual journey with unusual aesthetic and philosophical depth, playful and light. (Simone Luttenberger)
About the artist:
Merit Fakler studied stage design at Universität der Künste Berlin as master student of Prof. Achim Freyer. In addition, she successfully completed post graduate studies of video filming also at UdK Berlin. She works as video artist, stage designer and lecturer in Berlin and abroad. In addition to her artistic works in theatre and video art, she participates in exhibitions and performances, she creates documentaries and promotion films (concept, camera and editing) as well supports research and education projects.
She grew up in Freiburg and lives in Berlin since 1980. From 2003 to 2010, she lived temporarily as permanent resident in Perth, Australia.
