This Saturday Idea Generation Gallery will be holding a very special event at which members of the public will be given the opportunity to create their own liquid interpretation of Storm Thorgerson's iconic Pink Floyd cover Dark Side of the Moon. Over the years StormStudios have produced several reincarnations of the seminal album art work encompassing collages, stained glass windows and those of a marble effect — otherwise known as ‘Liquid Dark Side of the Moon' prints. These liquid prints are produced using what is in affect a giant paint tray, with the Dark Side of the Moon prism moulded onto it. Various paints are then poured into this mould and the colours encouraged to leak out of their original containment into each other, so creating a marbled, fluid version of the original Pink Floyd cover. The resultant paint swirls are then captured on camera, and from this digital file a completely unique fine art print is then created. Usually such prints are created behind closed doors in the unseen world of StormStudios. This event presents a unique opportunity for members of the public to come along to the gallery and see how such works are created. A few lucky members of the audience will also be able to try creating their own Liquid Dark Side of the Moon art work, with the outcomes being photographically documented and available to buy as affordable, signed fine art prints. Storm Thorgerson and members of StormStudios will be present at the event, making for a day of extraordinary entertainment. Doors close 5pm.
