The program presents an exciting new generation of international artists working with the medium of performance. The works of these artists explore a diverse set of conditions as they activate the mental and physical space. Working live with the body and "in the moment" their research urges us to reflect upon and question the political, social or spiritual understandings of experience. disORDER Live art creates a multi-layered, dynamic environment in which the audience is invited to navigate and explore.
disORDER is a recently founded live art collective that acts as an open, itinerant network based on collaborative research whose primary goal is to develop a sustainable model for producing and presenting live art. With performance art becoming increasingly integrated into the mainstream art circuit, performance artists have found a more and more specific space within the formats traditionally used to present and commercialize live art. These models often impose significant restrictions in terms of space, budget and targeted audience. We are testing alternative venues, engagement and commercial strategies and modes of collaboration. Disorder’s artists present a wide range of practices and use a variety of media (performance, video, installation, community projects), all having in common the production of time-based, live work that often requires an active participation of the public.
