Both UK-based artists make work that draws on processes of construction and deconstruction. The physicality of their materials is as integral to the works as their colours and compositions. Through the use of painting, collage and drawing, cuts, rips and layering of materials help to create surfaces that strike a balance between order and chaos.

The work’s final iterations are therefore a celebration of material and surface, allowing for a spontaneity in the practice which is suggestive of the ongoing and evolving processes but often grounded by vivid black painted lines and marks.
