Throughout the month of April, Das Gift will be hosting a fundraiser for Fridays For Future in order to bring attention to the urgent need for tackling the climate crisis.
About
Das Gift have invited a number of local and international artists to donate artworks to be part of a silent auction which will take place in our gallery, Das Giftraum for the duration of the month. The exhibition will be open and free to the public with visitors being encouraged to bid on artworks. Each work will be numbered and displayed without the artist names and we will provide notes for guests to leave their name, contact details and top price for the artwork(s) of their choice. At the end of the month the top "bidder" will be contacted and the sale completed, with all money raised going to Fridays For Future.
Some of the artists who will be contributing artwork include Douglas Gordon, Phil Collins, Ivana Kličković, Molly Nilsson, Karla Marchesi, Stephanie Hamer, Martyn Goodacre, Alice Morey, Valerie Schmidt, Konx-om-Pax, Lucy Dyson, Molly Dyson, Chris Dennis, Louise Thomas, Miranda Holmes, Mike.Sian Studio +MORE TBA!!!
Alongside the month long silent auction we have planned a series of DJs to play on each of the Fridays, in homage to Greta Thunberg. The opening party will be on 03 April and will see Siniša Mitrović of Shady Lane Productions grace the decks, followed by Barry Burns of Mogwai on 10 April, local legend Molly Nilsson on 17 April, A V SPECIAL GUEST on 24 April, and then out with a bang on 01 May with our closing party.

About the space:
We have hosted exhibitions in a room behind the bar in Das Gift since 2011. We are completely independent and self-funded through drinks sales at the bar. Our aim is to provide a space for locally based artists, often in the early stages of their career, a space to experiment and present their work in an unconventional space without the restrictions of a traditional gallery. The space is free to use and we don't take commission.
