The Exhibition will bring together a series of new paintings and drawings by Coco Hewitt.
Hewitt's work is rooted in landscape. Places from memory are re-constructed. Her paintings have an eerie, uncanny quality to them; depicting uninhabited landscapes with an undercurrent of unease and melancholy .
Hewitt is interested in the physical, three dimensional nature of paint. There is an expressive use of colour built up in a series of layers to create depth and texture. Dark deep rich hues are played off bright almost ugly tones. Pencil is worked into the paint so you catch glimpses of the graphite marks shimmering within the layers.
