About
Roulette presents an evening of two improvised performances from poet, dancer, and choreographer Patricia Nicholson Parker.
Comprised of two dancers, two musicians, and a visual artist, Resurrection Revolution (R&R) is built on the idea of an aesthetic and a social common, rather than a single artistic discipline. First performed in January 2015, the performance utilizes improvisation as the base. All members share a sophisticated and highly developed understanding of the nature of improvisation as well as a common understanding of shared social responsibility.
Resurrection Revolution will be followed by the premiere of Critical InStance, a structured improvisation performance from William Parker and Patricia Parker, who have worked together for over 40 years.
Roulette’s ongoing [DANCEROULETTE] series reflects the commitment to presenting experimental dance that we’ve held since our founding in 1978, particularly the collaborative efforts of composers and choreographers exploring the relationship between sound and movement, choreography and composition. Roulette’s move to Brooklyn in September 2011 has enabled us to initiate a regular season of [DANCEROULETTE] presentations, which now hosts nearly 40 performances yearly.
