About

Alongside other events in the Focus on Alston festival strand, Dance Umbrella presents for the first time Richard Alston Dance Company at its home theatre with a programme of early works and new creations showing off his company's versatility. This quadruple bill includes a new piece from Alston for the full company set to Mozart's Piano Sonata No.15 played live by Jason Ridgway and Early Days, a collage of extracts from early Alston pieces including Wildlife (1983), Rainbow Ripples (1980), Still Moving Still (1969) and Something To Do (1969). The programme is completed by a unique revival of Robert Cohan's sextet, In Memory, made for London Contemporary Dance Theatre, to Paul Hindemith's Sonata for Unaccompanied Viola (Opus 11, No. 5), played live by Alistair Scahill. There is also a new solo, Other Than I, choreographed by Martin Lawrance, to the music of Francois Couperin.
