About
Autonomies will be an exhibition that examines manifestations of morality and caring in common Irish society, discussing the deference of responsibility that results from hierarchies of intervention and the sensation of being observed.Surreal theatrics and sound are employed in these works to create a sinister and other-worldly tone. In doing this, Cox examines insidious undercurrents present in common notions of caring, whilst emphasising a view of behaviour as performative. Layers of possible engagement will be presented to the visitor, asking them to consider the culpability of spectatorship.
Craig Cox is a Dublin-based artist and recent graduate of the Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology. Recent exhibitions include 'We' at Catalyst Arts, Belfast, and 'Emerging Artists 2012' at The Courthouse Arts Centre, Tinahely, Wicklow.
