About

This time we have invited design historian, author and Crafts columnist Tanya Harrod to talk about The Real Thing (published by Hyphen Press), a collection of essays on craft, art and design taken from her extraordinary 30 year career.

Tanya's subjects range from Barbara Hepworth’s sculpture to the poetic objects-in-landscape of Ian Hamilton Finlay, from Philip K Dick’s science fiction to the theories of Richard Sennett and from Picasso’s ceramics to the still lives of Gwyn Hanssen Pigott. The book was selected by the Evening Standard as one of its best art and design titles of 2015.

We will be returning once again to the showroom of the renowned furniture manufacturer Vitra, which makes designs by the likes of Charles & Ray Eames, Jasper Morrison and Ron Arad.

After the discussion there will be time for questions from the audience, a signing session and a free drink or two, courtesy of The Five Points Brewing Co.

Doors open at 6.30pm and the discussion will start at 7pm, lasting around an hour.
