I am currently utilising the dust from the small soapstone sculptures I have been creating over the last few years. As soapstone can range from pale blue to dark grey a restricted tonal palette is possible and somewhat interesting.. 

With these paintings, using copolymer emulsion with the soapstone dust creates a creamy paint suited to pallet knife work.

The paintings are coated with epoxy resin giving further depth to the paint and any other mixed media used

I find it extremely satisfying to use materials that have already completed their initial use.

I am responding to the speck of light in the dark as I continue to develop Into The Abyss - Series 2. I'm experimenting with a range of colours, mixed media while encapsulating the piece of work within epoxy resin. Trapping a time and place or emotion and feelings.
