“Colour is uncontainable. It effortlessly reveals the limits of language and evades our best attempts to impose a rational order on it... To work with colour is to become acutely aware of the insufficiency of language and theory” – David Batchelor
About
The Fountain Gallery hosts an exhibition of work by Elaine Coles, Nigel Moores and Ann Marie Whaley. ‘Colour Matters’ opens Tuesday 1 September at the Fountain Gallery, 26 Bridge Road, Hampton Court, East Molesey, Surrey, KT8 9HA.
Differing in point of view and method, the three artists share a common reliance on colour to say what there are no words for. “Let me, O let me bathe my soul in colours; let me swallow the sunset and drink the rainbow.”
― Kahlil Gibran
