About
Marjorie Hellman's passion for color and geometry is evident in this series of paintings that she began in 2019. She explores vibrant color compositions working with acrylic on aluminum carefully layering the paint to achieve as flat a surface as possible while creating the illusion of a 3 dimensional form.
Hellman's color combinations enhance the intensity of her selected hues, and she employs the layering of color to create the illusion of space. These works offer both a study of light and form, and an intense focus on color emphasizing color brilliance, tonalities, luminance, tension, clarity and more. The compositions are playful and object-like having broken free of the rectangular frame.
