Session 4 - Conceptual Art and Postmodernism
The fourth in a series of four lectures investigates Conceptual art and Postmodernism. We examine the emergence of Conceptual art, and contrast Modernism with Postmodernism through ideas about Postmodernity in the thought of French philosopher Jean-Francois Lyotard. We compare a variety of artistic approaches, which illustrate the diverse ways contemporary artists respond to the postmodern condition diagnosed by Lyotard.
