Colin Brown: Nature Study

Resipole Studios welcomes north east of Scotland based artist Colin Brown to Resipole Studios for his first solo show at the gallery. Brown is a well-established and award-winning artist, who has spent more than thirty years developing his own distinctive style. In his current work Brown sets up a direct conversation with an artist from a different age - the 18th century Belgian botanical painter Pierre-Joseph Redouté. A single Redouté flower forms the basis of each composition. Brown then alters, paints over and adds collage elements to produce a contemporary response to the Belgian artist's work.
